Why do I need to get my instruments calibrated?
Answer: Any instrument that measures a physical parameter, including the measurment of optical radiation, will be subject to “drift.” Depending on how the instrument is used and cared for the drift can cause significant errors in manufacturing process or other situations.
The best way to minimize the error is to have your instruments calibrated regularly by a qualified laboratory, such as Angstrom Metrology.

|
Is it necessary to calibrate a new instrument?
Answer: Often times equipment is not purchased with a N.I.S.T. traceable calibration by a qualified laboratory. In this case your Quality Assurance system may require you to seek out a N.I.S.T. traceable laboratory and have the equipment calibrated. |
|
What is meant by traceability?
Answer: Traceability is an unbroken chain of calibrations that connect a device to a national reference standard. Angstrom Metrology buys all of its primary standards directly from N.I.S.T., thereby assuring that all calibrations are directly N.I.S.T. traceable. |
